Our Fall Lookbook is complete!
THE FOCUS OF THIS PHOTOSHOOT AND LOOKBOOK WAS TO SHARE THE SPIRIT OF WEST AFRICAN CULTURE THROUGH THE MOTHER DAUGHTER BOND.
Alora Boutique is built on the mother-daughter relationship. Emilyn and Jameela design and create their products together and they believe that is what makes the business work so well. Emilyn and Jameela also believe that a good mother-daughter relationship determines a young woman's relationship skills and self-esteem. In our culture (the Akan culture) we structure is matrilineal. This means that lineage is traced through the mother. This makes the mother-daughter relationship particularly important.
That is why we followed three mother daughter couples around the city to see how they interacted -- in style! We see them shopping together, taking a stroll to and from the farmer's market, having afternoon brunch and finally meeting up for a lovely, elegant Christmas party. When women have great relationships with their mothers they have great relationships with other women!
We were so happy to work with Studio Intent boutique, Darryl Pollock Photography, Makeup Savi, and Mary-Kate Farmer!
We hope you enjoy the lookbook as much as we enjoyed making the products!
