One Woman Many Faces - Dress for Success Calgary

About Dress For Success Calgary

Dress for Success Calgary provides women with clothing, career development, and a network of support. They give women the confidence and practical skills to succeed in Calgary’s workforce. Dress for Success clothes women in hope, head to toe.

Last night they mentioned that they had a 73% participation rate (follow-up, mentorship etc) after women initially joined the program. (Please feel free to comment below if I got this wrong).

The great thing about this program is that they help ALL women for FREE. They help women who are looking to start fresh or who are just starting. They help Canadian women and immigrant women, educated women and less educated women.

Alora was very happy to be a part of Dress for Success (DFS) Calgary's One Woman, Many Faces fundraising gala. Alora donated a statement piece for silent auction in an effort to help them raise $10,000. There were many other awesome women run businesses like Joyce's Closet that donated amazing products and services.

The Hosts

CTV Calgary’s Camilla Di Giuseppe and Darren Hailes hosted the evening. They introduced a host of speakers Trena laine olfert (Co-founder of Dress for Success) , Veronica Condemi (a past client), Melanie James (the new co-chair for DFS - wearing Malika Couture) Carol Grant (DFS boutique manager) , and a representative from the YWCA who mentioned that some women who are very educated and accomplished find themselves struggling in Canada and experiencing poverty for the first time. That was very touching.

The people

The women in attendance were quite sophisticated and amazing to be in the company of.

Shop for a Cause

Pop-up shops featuring Bano eeMee and Malika Couture were definitely highlights of my evening.

Fashion Show

The Ladies at DFS put on a fashion show highlighting items that can be found in their SouthCentre boutique. The clothing showcased was very bright and vibrant and appropriate for the workplace.

Dress for Success let us know that many women come into their boutique with no work appropriate clothing and come out feeling like different better women. There was a story of a woman who was wearing her maternity bra for months. Dress for success helped her get a new bra and one can only imagine how that helped her life.

Dress for Success helps women look great on the outside and feel great on the inside.
