3 Super Simple Spring Cleaning Tips

We want to share some super simple cleaning tips that we use at home.

Remove Crayon Marks with Toothpaste

When I first moved into my house there were some serious crayon marks on the wall. I knew that I should create a clean canvas for my daughter to mark up. Who wants to write on the walls when some other child has spoiled your canvas?

My solution was toothpaste! I smeared a bit of toothpaste (not gel toothpaste) on the marks and waited a few minutes. I then wiped away the marks from the former "resident artist" and the walls were ready for my daughter inevitably to work on!

Remove Stains With This Simple Carpet Cleaning Solution

Most times I don't feel like leaving my house to buy a single item. Some may call it laziness, I call it efficiency. Why waste 40 minutes of my life to pick up one product?

Here is a simple recipe that you can use to stop stains in their tracks

  • 1 part vinegar
  • 2 parts water

Put the mixture in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray it on your stains and let the solution settle for a few minutes.

If you are feeling full of vim, you can put a damp cloth on the stain and put your (old) iron over it before you scrub the stain away.

Deodorize Your Mattress

After you have turned your mattress it is a great idea to deodorize it. Here is another simple DIY way to deal with your mattress.

  • 16-ounce box baking soda
  • Your favoutite Essential oil

Add about 15 drops of your favourite essential oil to the box of baking soda and shake it up. Sprinkle the baking soda all over your mattress and leave it. While you are cleaning your carpet stains and washing your walls you can let the solution sit for about an hour.

You can vacuum away the baking soda and viola, you are done.
