Christmas is right around the corner and let’s face it, it can be a crazy, hectic and an often stressful time! If you’re human you probably rush around for most of December baking, shopping and wrapping gifts until the big day comes, and then after a hearty meal and a sigh of relief, it is over until next year. In this chaos you have probably forgotten one very important thing… You!
You work all day, come home and work some more, then worry about getting everyone else that ‘perfect gift’. You fall to the way-side; burn out, spent and exhausted but it is only when we are happy, healthy and whole are we able to slow down, relax and truly enjoy ourselves and our loved ones.
Here are 4 Simple & Sustainable Ways to Treat Yourself this Holiday Season:
Bath bombs and essential oils provide therapeutic effects that create a relaxing aroma and soften your skin. You can balance your well-being, revitalize your energy and even help boost your immune system! I would suggest looking up a few D.I.Y homemade recipes, like this one from Pintrest: 6 Simple Steps to DIY Bath Bombs. If you choose to purchase essential oils or bath bombs opt for the natural ingredients!
Meditation continues to become more widely practiced and it’s no wonder why—the ancient relaxation technique has been scientifically proven to reduce and combat negative consequences of stress. Sit in a relaxed position, take deep breaths and focus on your breathing. You can also set an intention or use a mantra such as “My body is still, I am filled with peace”. If your thoughts begin to wander simply guide your attention back to the mantra or the breath.
Give Yourself A Facial!
Facials are great for both men and women, and with the bitter cold nipping at your skin, it’s a great way to hydrate and cleanse your skin. This DIY Hydrating Face Mask uses household ingredients such as honey and coconut oil which have great antioxidants and moisturizing properties – plus it’s even safe if ingested!
Cleanse Your Body
This cranberry detox is perfect for the holidays! Use some leftover cranberries, add some purified water & voila! You can get the awesome power of cranberries which have been found to prevent a wide range of health problems. Cranberries are also full of vitamins and rich in antioxidants, get the recipe here.
Give 1, 2 or all 4 a try, we guarantee you will feel aligned and more relaxed!
Unlock Collection Update:
Since the launch of the ‘Unlock Collection’ on November 10 2016 we have raised over $500 for the Calgary Mustard Seed. We are halfway there with only $500 more to raise in hopes of meeting our goal of $1000 that will be used to help end homelessness in our city.
In addition to our fundraising efforts we are proud to announce our jewelry making workshop with nearly 15 female guests and residents of The Mustard Seed was a success! We are so honored and humbled by our experience working with such amazing women. Here are a few pictures of the beautiful jewelry they created!
From our family to yours we wish you a safe and love-filled Christmas! Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to new beginnings in 2017.
