Sustainable and Ethical Jewelry - Alora Boutique

Sustainable and Ethical Jewelry

As you may or may not know, Alora Boutique began its journey in 2013 with Jameela and Emilyn handcrafting jewellery with the belief that it should speak to you and leave a meaningful impact on the environment as well as those around you. This is achieved by using recycled brass, glass and gemstones to create simple, clean earthy statement pieces that are designed in the spirit of love, kindness and consciousness.

Jameela and Emilyn work together to create designs that can be worn across generations. They also work with women from Ghana, inspired by their free spirit culture.

Our colourful glass beads are handmade in Ghana from recycled window panes, broken glass bottles and other glass wares.

Using recycled brass from keys, door knobs, musical instruments and more, we create pendants using old handcrafted techniques such as loss wax casting.

By using recycled materials to create our jewelry we are reducing our environmental impact, decreasing waste and creating eco-friendly and sustainable jewellery that will not fade or tarnish over time. We help support disadvantaged women who may be living in poverty by teaching them new skills and creating jobs. You can feel good knowing that when you make a purchase from Alora you are too!

Jameela was recently featured in an article by Scott Jacobsen from Trusted Clothes who for the past 20 years have been promoting ethical, sustainable and healthy fashion. Jameela talks about the history of Alora Boutique, living her dream as a sustainable and ethical business owner as well as the importance of ethics in business and sustainability when creating products.

“I really enjoy helping other people through my work and making people feel better about themselves. I love hosting workshops or networking events with “disadvantaged” women in my city. They are so happy that someone cares enough to give them their time and teach them something new.

As long as people are paid a fair and living wage in their countries they become self-sufficient. We forget that people don’t need charity, they need proper laws and systems in place to protect them from greedy and unscrupulous people in addition to systems that give them the freedom to create their own destiny.”

Live with intention! The brand is more than just a jewelry line because it embraces the stories, happy moments, milestones and experiences that celebrate, connect and inspire you! Each ring, bracelet, necklace or pair of earrings symbolizes an intention and tells a story of individuality, self-expression, love and friendship. Alora lives by the philosophy that in order to live a meaningful life you must:

  • Embrace your uniqueness
  • Treat your surroundings and those around you with kindess and respect
  • Give back to those less fortunate than you

At the end of the day, it really comes down to a morality thing. Do you care? If you do care, do everything in your power to change a situation or fix a problem.”

We are proud to create one of a kind, unique pieces that spark conversation and inspiration, we love knowing our jewellery is made from recycled materials and you should too!
